It's showtime.........

It's show time drumroll please.........

Lights, Camera, Action .....

That's it car is all packed with costumes, make up, hair spray and all accessories, off we go.....

Here is Amy in the car ready for the show.  Amy is nervous but feeling excited!!!!  Felt weird putting all the make up on Amy she looks sooooooo grown up!  Colin felt it was weird looking at our eight year old daughter and seeing what the future holds with the make up and hair, not long until the teenage years, eeek!

At the changing area, let's get organised.  Mummy is chaperoning the teeny weeny dancers, Amy has other chaperone's to take care of her and her dancing buddies.

Ready for the first dance 'Lucky Star' of the rehearsals

'Lucky Star' Amy is proper nervous now....

The nerves have gone and when 'Imagination' dancers were called Amy was first in the queue to get on stage!!!

Now the dance 'Spoonful of Sugar'.  Amy is one of the children and has to do a cheeky shake of her booty to the audience!  Tut tut Amy Anderson!!  But the children get caught shaking their bottoms to the audience by their maids and then made to take their medicine!!!!!!!  The maids were bigger girls who do tap at a higher level than Amy's class.

Our favourite dance with Amy

'I'm a believer' song from Shrek, another dance with the bigger girls on stage.  So the rehearsal was from 1pm-5.30pm then back to get changed at 6.30pm, had McDonald's for lunch and a picnic in the car for tea.  The show finished at 10.30pm!  Mummy watched the show by herself on Friday night, Daddy watched Saturday matinee whilst Mummy chaperoned again (chaperoned some of Amy's class buddies this time!) and then Mummy and Daddy watched together on Saturday evening performance.  It is hard to describe how proud we were of Amy up on stage doing her dances, AMAZING!!  A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into organising and running the show, tremendous amount of people involved.

One of my most memorable moments from chaperoning has been one of the teeny weenies decided to apply her own make up bare in mind these little ballet dancers are only 3,4,5 years old.  So my little cherub I asked her to put the make up away as her make up was fine, so 'Yes'  was the reply and the make up was put away.  Thought that was good, no issues then turned my back for a few minutes then turned around to find EEEEEEK!!  Not only had she put make up on but had put pink lipstick all over her cheek as if she had put make up on a train or in the car at high speed!  But then realised she also had an orange forehead with an extra added amount of foundation applied, quick wipe sorted but then ............
if the make up wasn't bad enough she had managed to put foundation on her WHITE TUTU OUTFIT!!!!!  Quick wet wipe and we were sorted but the make up was put away out of little hands reach!  If it wasn't so intense and stressful back stage and in the dressing areas that might have been FUNNY!!!

Had a relatively lazy morning on Saturday 5th, here is the before picture of Amy before make up and hair done......
After make up and hair done

Amy ready to go to the second day of Imagination show, matinee and evening performances.  Another 10.30pm finish.  Amy fell asleep in the car coming home but had to wake her at home for her make up to be removed and hair to come out of bun as that would not be comfortable to sleep in!  Mummy and Daddy are and were sooooo very, very proud of Amy dancing on the stage in front of over 500 people!  The chaperones for Amy kept telling us she was super organised and was helping them sort out their group and were complimenting Amy for being so polite and nice, well done Amy XOXOXO

So, my second memorable moment being a chaperone was with the older girls on the Saturday matinee show.  We were waiting in the back stage corridor to get into the theatre when they were playing 'rock, paper, scissors'.  One girl got a bit heavy handed with her rock hand and bashed another girl's hand who burst into tears just as the stage door opened to go on stage AAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!  So trying to reassure her giving a little cuddle, clean her glasses, wipe away tears and make sure make up okay she then grabbed my arm and dragged me back stage and then next to the stage for their entry!  OOOOOOOHHHHH MY!!!  I then got a job from the back stage organisers to keep my group of ballerina's off the stage and back out of the way from the big girls and boys who were dancing on the stage.  Wow it was incredible being at the side of the stage, so hot, so dark at the side-lines where we were all standing but so bright on stage, what an experience both Amy and I had being part of the show!
