Brugge Day 2 Thursday 25th April

Day 2 in Brugge!

 

 

Colin out for his power walk then my turn and then Amy came out with me!  Amy and I walked to one of the city gates as it was drizzle rain which made the cobbles slippy so we went to the River and went along the park gravel pathway instead. 

 

The City gateways was on Amy's wishlist so tick already and it is before 8am!!

 



 

There are four gateways in the city and this was the closest one to our hotel - Gentpoort

 

Bit moist but the trees are keeping us undercover!  Supposed to brighten up later, hope so!!

Power walks finished now time for breakfast!  The hotel were going to charge 9 Euro's for continental breakfast but we managed to get all 3 of our breakfasts for 9.80 Euros!!  We have a set budget per day for spending, doing well so far.....

Pretty bridge with tour boat coming through the bridge.  So as you can see from the photo the sun has made an appearance and the rain has GONE!  I'm glad as Colin has his shorts on Bo))

We stumbled across a market!  Amy's face says it all about the fish market stall!!!  YUCK!!!!!!

 

Brugge is full of little lanes and alleyways!

 

 

After a few wrong turns, it is a bit tricky navigating with the narrow lanes and alleyways on the map!

Eventually we made it to the ....................

Colin and I been reminiscing about my granny and his grandma having

toilet roll holders with knitted ladies!!  Amy looked at us like 'what are you talking about!'

Colin's wish list to eat a Manon - mission accomplished!  Colin enjoyed the Manon but Amy and I didn't, yucky but the other chocolates that we bought were GREAT!!

 

Some interesting facts about chocolate!!

 

WHAT!!  Keep on eating chocolate then!!!!  I knew there were reasons for adoring

chocolate and my cholesterol is good! :o)

plant potatoes with dung in the back garden!  We used to plant a few different varieties.

So the prize for completing the puzzle was a turn on the toy catcher!  Thought we would end up getting ripped off but this one keeps on going until you win!  This machine is better than the Majorca ones Grandpa what do you think, it was free and guaranteed prize every time ?!?!?!

The place is swarming with bicycles flying by everyone and here are some parked up!

 

So we have been thinking about our poor suitcase and decided to have a look in a department store as it was like Debenhams Blue Cross Sale there were reductions on the offer!  So we hummed and hay'd until we decided to get a suitcase with 40% off, bargain!!!  Meet Blu the suitcase!!

Blu is taken home to meet the rest of the suitcase family! SAD springs to mind naming our suitcases but they have been a big part of our lives recently!!

Well done Amy, we have been doing Maths, writing, Art and Reading along the way too!!  Not sure about this career for you Colin, it would mean going back to College to study eh think that might be a NO to teaching then!!

Funny Batman returns again tonight in the same parking spot what makes it even funnier whilst Colin taking this photo as Batman wasn't the passenger last night the waiter at one of the restaurants opens the window on the car for the photo!!  Now we know who's car it is!

 

Well thats us done Brugge now to move onto Barcelona!  It's funny both Colin and I are keen to go to Barcelona but it wouldn't be top of the list of places we are going to on our BIG HOLIDAY ADVENTURE!!  Amy is sooooo excited as it is her first apartment we will be living in!  Luxury we are going to have a washing machine, guess what I will be doing tomorrow night!!!
