Berlin Day 2 30th April

 Berlin Day 2

Leisurely breakfast in our room and then we headed out.
We were only a 5 minute walk from our first destination below;

Here we are at the biggest part of the Berlin wall still standing

There were lots of information stations just down from the strip of wall

Another trial occupation for Mr Anderson, singer maybe other than the fact this is the ear piece for one of the interactive information stations!!

Map showing East and West Berlin

Colin taking all the information in!

Amy looking at the 22 festivals and public holidays set by the Nazi's in 1937

The wall behind Amy brought down in 1990

Martin-Gropius-Bau - art exhibition centre

Amy thumbs up we have made it to Checkpoint Charlie, tick off the wishlist

Amazing what you find in the Checkpoint Charlie Museum shop!

Oh here we go buy a piece of Berlin wall smallest piece was 9 Euros!!

The actual Checkpoint Charlie

Rip off Tourist.com here - checkpoint Charlie and get your photograph with soldiers for 3Euros
Let's just gatecrash and have random people in our photo instead
 Cost = Free

We hopped on a City Sightseeing Hop on Hop off tour with a live commentary
in German and English

Gendarmenmarkt - the square has French and German cathedrals and Schauspielhaus (theatre house) in between the two cathedrals below all in one square

Thank you for the kiss xx

Rotes Rathaus and TV Tower from a distance - two wishes on Amy's wishlist

At the TV Tower

We couldn't really see the front of the Rotes Rathaus due to building works this was the best photo we could get and this was Colin climbing on a bench to sneak a view over the builder's wall!

St Mary's church built in 1292

We walked around the TV tower and came across sunken trampolines -
we had to have a go!!

And a spinning mini roundabout

Waterfall in front of St Mary's church

Alexandraplatz Underground Station apart from it is above ground level
Supposed to be the most beautiful underground station in Berlin!!

So with Colin carrying the rucksack he thinks that he has sufficient training to apply for, wait for it, the German Sausage man (in the background of this photo but closer up below) ha ha!!

One of the beer gardens at the Alexandraplatz shopping outside area

So the deal is Amy gets on the trampolines if Daddy gets a beer at one of the Beirgartens!!

The highest trampoline Amy has ever been on!

Water pumps, not sure why?!

So here is Daddy's part of the bargain other than he gets a tankard of wine instead of Beer!!
It is probably the most expensive bottle of water Amy has ever had and then she spilt most of it, WOOOOPS!!!

One of the many Berlin Museum's

Reichstag with the glass dome you can walk round at the top of the building

Had to take a selfie with the big german flag in the background!

Unusual Buskers with bubbles!

The back of the Brandenburg Gate - another wishlist item ticked

The front of the Brandenburg Gate

Pandora shop was found and the Brandenburg Gate was bought,
that is all Amy's Euros spent now!

Gardens next to Brandenburg Gate Colin impressed as all the other gardens we have been past have all been overgrown and full of dandelions!

Just missed the top of the gate off this selfie, doh!!

Bundeskanzleramt Berlin, German Chancellery

Berlin prison holding 1,296 male prisoners

It is rush hour and Amy is being very patient stuck in traffic jams :o(
