Olden 7th May

Wednesday 7th May Olden Week 3 of 13 and 21 days of 91!!!!

We arrived into the port of Olden at 09.00am, beautiful quaint town!

3378   Just parking up!  All the tour buses sitting ready to pounce on the tourists coming off the ship!!

The town is in the distance maybe about half a mile away from the port.

This is what Amy did last night at kid’s club but she was too tired to have a photograph last night!  They decorated a pillow case and coloured some teddies.  They watched Madagascar but Amy is a tired out pumpkin today!

W is for Walnut, Amy thinks the walnut is shaped like a ‘W’, porridge and pancakes with walnuts for breakfast today with beautiful scenery surrounding us again!

That is us off the ship now, we need to be back by 5.30pm!

So the plans were to go and see a Glazier today but the public transport doesn’t start until 1st June and the tourist companies are charging extortionate prices about £95 for the 3 of us for a 3 hour tour but that is only a half hour drive there, 2 free hours at the glazier and then a half hour drive back!  So we decide not to go and see the glazier as we are going to Alaska soon!!  So we have a wander into the town.

3385    Wasn’t so bad Amy laughing at the funny signs but this really tickled Colin and he chuckled for ages and then he noticed that they were selling toilets upstairs so that set him off laughing again!!!  Amy and I weren’t really impressed!!

What a quaint little cottage!

Here is a truck that reminds Colin of the programme Ice Truckers!  Think they would need those big trucks up in this neck of the woods in the winter!!

Here is the main part of town so we thought we would have a look in the shops, well just wait……

Colin thought this was a throwback to the 70’s with all the trousers in piles but the prices were ridiculous!!  As Colin is saying Holy Moly or What?!?!?

The next shop was an outdoor shop and we got Amy a bargain of a fleece as worn in the photo by Miss Amy Anderson for £10, absolute bargain J

Colin fancied walking to the lake and waterfall that wasn’t too far away but Amy wasn’t keen with being tired after her late night last night at Movie Pyjama party so the compromise was that we headed back to the ship had lunch and then Amy went to kid’s club and Colin and I went out for a walk!

Here is Viking Amy oh I am sure we have met her before but not in this country!  Her outfit is certainly different this photo but still as cute!  Viking Amy with her troll friends xxx

Rogie our room attendant has wrapped up Jemima and Milly again, cute!

Amy is chilling on the bed wondering what she will be doing at kid’s club this afternoon with her daily planner that is left on the bed each night at turn down service

Here is the start of Colin and I’s walk to the waterfall and lake!

Olden Old Church built in 1759, we are going the right way it is on the map as a landmark!

Olden New Church built in 1934 is the next landmark marked on the map, certainly heading the right way!

Another tourist money making scheme train going by!

We are walking on the main road but we can see the river alongside the road

Next landmark tick, we stopped and went into the church it had a massive organ and was bigger than I thought inside

We went past a farm next and the next thing should be the waterfall!

Sneaky path to see the waterfall from another angle

3427   So I want a photo of this little hut but my partner in crime has gone off somewhere so I end up doing a selfie!!

Oh yeah there he is on a different bridge!!

Beautiful wood anemones, reminding us of our river bank in Sulby

Now I have found you in the wilderness, what view are you getting of the waterfall!

Oh yeah that is pretty and here is Mrs Angela showing her new purchase too my wind proof jacket, I absolutely love it and it was another bargain!!

So Australia have loads of public barbeque facilities which are used regularly but I am just not sure how often this barbeque would be used!

Hurray we have made it to the lake!!!!

Having a well-earned rest checking the map before we head back to the ship!

Another set up shot of the two ugly mugs J

So Colin decides we should walk back along the river path

Back to the waterfall

Quick selfie beside the waterfall

The river path looks interesting with bridges along the way!

Colin peering in the water pump station

So peaceful all you can hear is the river running by

Maybe you shouldn’t have had 2 cups of water with your lunch Mr A or is it the sound of the river running by!!  Ha ha I did get dared to put this in the blog hee hee!!!

Yet another bridge!

Through the forest bit now, what a trek you are taking me on Colly!

Ewh!!!!  Slug!!!!!!

Bit of a tree in the way there Mr A!!

Bit precarious around here, Colly choosing his steps carefully!

Really Colly is this on your map jumping across a small waterfall???

Enjoying the beautiful scenery but then…….

The trolls got us and made us do silly faces ha ha!!!

Now that is a serious wood pile!!

Now back on the ship after our 2 & 1\2 hour walk, picked up Amy she’s had a brill time again and now relaxing listening to the Caribbean band in the background with a nice cold one!  We sat and chatted to two of our Aussie friends from Perth we made yesterday, they are lovely.
So at kid’s club the teachers always tell us something funny that has happened so today’s one was they made ice cream and then they handed out a recipe to the children and said you can take this home with you. You can now imagine what Amy’s reply was, yes you are absolutely right ‘But I don’t have a home’ luckily they all know that we are travelling round the world and emigrating to Australia or else that would have been social services coming to our cabin door ha ha!!!

Leaving Olden behind

Having a cheeky cocktail at the Outside Pool Bar as we watch the scenery go by, more beautiful views J

Daddy and Amy

The tunnels in the rocks, there are loads of them on this stretch of road we are passing!

Looking forward of the ship enjoying the beautiful scenery whilst enjoying our drink!

The girls went to the toilet and we thought we would sneak up on Daddy as he was taking photos of the views going by but he tricked us back by taking our picture ha ha!

Behind us!

In front of us!

Enjoying the views at the window on Deck 9 beside the outdoor pool

Trying to put Colin off taking photos by putting my drink in the shot and Amy sticking her thumb up!!!

Absolutely stunning waterfall going by as we are having tea

Amy’s school work for today the daily trivia quiz and Sudoku.  The daily quiz has been good as yesterday it was unscramble city names today was what city has the street names which Amy knew a few as we have either been or going to!

Our octopus towel design by Rogie

The end of the day watching the ‘Seasons’ show that was an aerial show for winter with a man and lady dressed white for snow on a circle aerial thing whilst doing some dance moves the singer was in a beautiful fur looking white long coat.  Then spring was a single guy doing dance moves in the air with a big anchor with the singer in an outfit with pansies on.  Summer was blue outfits with white fluffy clouds in the photo and dancers on the dance floor.  Autumn was aerial dancers on like bungee cords bouncing up and down doing twirls and elegant moves.  I can’t describe it as good as it was, amazing to think we are on a cruise ship and we are watching dancers performing suspended in the air!!

We met Alison and Bill (our reciprocal agreement photo taking lovely couple from Geiranger) on our way to our room after the show.  Oh my gosh they are amazing as they get a free gift of a photograph each cruise they go on because they have been on so many cruises and they now choose someone they meet to give the free photo to as they have loads of photos at home and guess what we have been the lucky chosen people on this cruise J  That is really spooky as I had said to Colin when we were out for our walk today I would just like one photo please from the ship.  At every opportunity Royal Caribbean photograph you and then charge you $22 a photo or have photo packages to get you to buy more and more from them but with our budget and 2 more cruises to go on we just couldn’t justify buying loads of photos.  I absolutely love my photograph I have got and it means so much more now as it was a gift from two lovely, lovely people thank you Alison and Bill xx  The spooky bit is that Alison and Bill only live 10 minutes away from where we will be living in Florida, small world.

A photo of our photo present, looks better in real life!  Thanks again xx
Tomorrow is Bergen 9am-4.30pm
