Bergen 8th
May 2014
Arriving
into Bergen
We arrived in Bergen
and was cleared by customs before 9am
Bergen has a
population of 270,000, biggest port we have been in
That’s
us off the ship need to be back on board by 4.30pm, okay Captain :0))
The
first glimpse of Bergen with the multi-coloured Wharfs
The
castle we walk by to get to the main city area
A
beautiful drain cover probably the prettiest I have ever seen!
A
little side street off the main quay shopping area
Shops
on the quay front, bit chilly but the sun forecast to come out later!
McDonald’s
in a beautiful building!!
Amy spied a Pandora
shop and got a Viking for Norway! This
collection is getting bigger and bigger just can’t wait to reconcile them with
her bracelet!
Houses and shops mixed together with the
tourist train on the road!
A
water feature and statue in the middle of the shopping square
Looking the other way
with the red roofed houses in the background
Pretty gardens we
came across when we are out for our wander, no trips just seeing where the road
takes us!
Beautiful
church at the top of the shopping street
Waterfall!
Beautiful
flowers next to the waterfall
A bandstand so only
one thing for it and that is to play a musical instrument just like we did in
our Aberdeen photo shoot, what a fab idea our photographer Colin Hunter came up
with! The instrument shots will follow
in a few photos
Oh Amy is that water
sprouting out of your hand or is that a beautiful waterfall in a very large
lake there!
Oh
yeah that is the waterfall in a very large lake!
Is
that a Statue of Christian Nichelsen or is it a man called oh what’s that joke
again? What do you call a man with a
seagull on his head?????
Cliff
no I was right the first time it is Christian Nichelsen ha ha!!!!
Fountain
family shot
Some
weird wooden sculpture which looked really out of place!
Is
this statue Cliff or Edvard Greig?
That
was a close call but I think it was Edvard Greig for sure?!!?
The Anderson band
playing the guitar, violin and piano! We
didn’t earn anything busking ha ha!
Change of instrument
for this song, guitar and violin!
All
playing the accordion
Absolute
nutters!!!
I was just planning
taking a photograph of the tulips but then Amy came and stood in the photo ha
ha! Just habit now the photographer and
model striking a pose at every chance!
The
pedestrianized shopping area where we try and spend the last of our Norwegian
Korona but we can’t find anything! So we
end up going to a supermarket for snacks for on our adventures certainly don’t
need anything to eat whilst on the cruise we feel like we are constantly eating
at the moment!!
Beautiful
yacht and the castle behind. We’ve had
our wander now we are making our way back to the cruise ship
Beautiful
coloured wharfs across the quay
Beautiful
backdrop for a picture!
At
the fish market, yucky!
Walking
back to the ship and Amy’s legs are tired but atleast we can walk quicker
through the fish food stalls, mmmmm no thanks!
Beautiful
buildings with the trees and different colours around
The girls messing
about
Closer
family pic of the beautiful wharf shops
Colin
getting adventurous with his photo taking, good shot Col xx
The
side of Bergenhus Castle with the two jazz hand antics going on and a random
dog!
Through
the very big keyhole!
Round
the castle walls
Submarine
in port too
Big
port reminds us of Aberdeen
Through
the tunnel and we are at the cruise ship
Two
cruise ships in port at Bergen at least we got back on the right one!
Oh cheeky!!!
Been
curious to see the hospital and medical facilities and here is the waiting room
to see the medical team on board, 3 nurses and 1 doctor on board and someone
available 24 hours a day and just to make sure the Americans feel at home you
need to dial 911 to speak to nurse or doctor out of hours! Here’s hoping we don’t need them next week!
Having
a game of table tennis on deck 9
View
around Bergen from the cruise ship
The
lady on deck keeps on appearing painting the sites around instead of
photographs, her paintings are amazing and she is soooo quick too!
The
brass band playing for us leaving port!
Game
of crazy golf as we are leaving port
That
is it or final port in Norwegian Fjords, time is flying by!
Bye
bye Bergen
Holy
moly there is a bridge ahead, duck everybody!!
Watch
out Amy even with daddy’s sunglasses on won’t make that bridge any higher!!
Phew
we made it under with loads of room, looks like our captain has done this
before ha ha!
But on the other hand
that bridge must be REALLY HIGH to get us through all 11 decks of us!
Oh
no another bridge but this one looks lower but don’t panic as we took a right
instead of going under the bridge, thank goodness for that!
Now if I was in that
sailboat I would be shaking my bootie out of the way of our cruise ship
Honk the horn Captain
I don’t think he has seen us!!!
He
moved but I think the swell from the cruise ship might capsize him!!
A
little drink before tea, don’t mind if we do thanks! My cheeky champagne cocktail!
We did say a little
drink Col ha ha! It has got to be the
biggest can of beer I have ever seen holding 750mls
Family
shot at tea by our fab waiters who have been amazing all week xx
Iputu our waiter from Bahli has been making
an origami moving sculpture each night so here is Amy with her flapping bird
made from her children’s menu, amazing as it only takes him couple of minutes
if that. He has made a talking fox too!
Off to bed now, night
night xxx
Lazy day tomorrow as
it is a cruising day before heading back to Copenhagen port
