New York - Day 2
We seem to be in a routine of getting up and having a swim!! Lovely dip in the pool, shower and get ready for another day of fun packed adventures and new sights to see!
Our new room and now we look out over the
River towards the Empire State Building.
We are happy as we are on the fourth floor so no-one peering in!!! Exciting day as my new camera has been
charged and ready for action!!!!
So I
start messing about with the camera and find a mode that can take a photo and
turns the one photo into 5 different shots, here it goes I am amazed!!! What tricks I can get up to now!!! So the original photo with Amy and Yorkie xxx
Love
this facility of taking one photo and then the camera does some artistic work!
Because
we are doing quite a few cities in America we are going to try and find a US
flag to put on the front of the suitcase and put the specific cities on the
back of the suitcase, New York is first.
It was funny there were a few I heart NY but Amy said ‘it has to say New
York rather than NY!’ she’s so
particular but it is true we came to New York not NY!!
Standard
photo and then ……
Hairdresser
strikes again I have been picking ideas up from people walking by in the street
but this has got to be my most adventurous! The plait on top of her head starts from the other side of her head!!
Just
stepped out of our hotel and got to do a selfie with this backdrop
Oh wow
my zoom on my camera is sooo much better than my old one!! This is where we are heading to today on a
cruise to see Statue of Liberty, WOW!!
We were still standing at our hotel when I took this photo, WOW!!
Empire
State Building from our hotel!
Here
comes our ferry so stop messing about with the camera Angela ha ha!!
Messing
about with camera waiting for the ferry to dock!!
I
absolutely love my new camera, thank you Colin and Amy xXx
We are surprised at how much air traffic there is
along the Hudson River, helicopters, army planes and helicopters, sea planes
and just feels like lots and lots of activity in the air. This airplane looks weird!
And
there is lots of activity in the River too and with a helicopter above
too!
We are off the ferry now and have managed to get
to the subway to 34th Penn Street station which is massive! So Colin has been wondering what Bud Light is
but look a Bud Light Lime flavour,
yuck, sounds wrong!!
Madison
Square theatre we pass before heading to Pier 78 to catch the cruise to the
Statue of Liberty!
We have made it to Pier 78 and look who we saw ha
ha!! We arrive just after 12, get our
tickets checked and then after a snack of….
chocolate
ice-cream we start queuing for the 1pm cruise!
Colin
has Mango, yummy and I had Mint, delicious on a hot day!!
We
started queuing at 12.30pm and by that point the queue was already long! We are waiting in line when we see 5
airplanes doing a message in the sky ‘Existence or Nonexistance’, random but it
is pretty cool watching the letters evolve!
Here
we go on the cruise, let’s get a seat!
Well we try and get a seat but the seats are facing out the way on the top deck and in the middle of the deck they are facing each other the opposite way! It feels like a cattle market as people are trying to get good spots for photo taking, mmmm this isn't what I imagined this cruise to be like!!!
New
York yellow taxi on the water and the Beast green speedboat behind that does
tours to the Statue of Liberty but goes a bit quicker!!
Along
the River Hudson, so on the cruise we have a guide John who doesn’t appear to
need to breathe as he is rattling everything off that we can see around us!
Now we are out on the River everyone has settled down and I am managing to get some elbow room to take photos, now the cruise is more enjoyable!
The
Empire State building
The
apartment block on the river front has a few famous people live in there I can
only remember Calvin Klein lives in one but he said quite a few people’s names
that I recognised!
Or
maybe Calvin Klein lived in these apartments, sorry just can’t remember I was
in information overload and trying to take photograph’s at the same time was
aaaarrrgggghhh!
One
World Trade Centre from the River
The
brown buildings are air vents for the subway
That
is our ferry we have been taking to cross the River Hudson
Battery
Park at the lower end of Downtown
Wall street
So close we are nearly there but we are heading up
the River first to see the bridges and then back to see the lady!
The
clouds on the skyscrapers are beautiful but when you are at the bottom of them
looking up it makes me feel sick as they look as if they are moving!
The
orange ferry service Staten Islands Ferry to take you to see the Statue of
Liberty which New York provides for FREE!
But the only problem is that the next available slot to go up the Statue
of Liberty is in 45 days time, you gotta be kidding me, that is crazy!! So in New York you obviously need to plan well in advance to see the Statue of Liberty, 9/11 Museum and when you will be hungry after last nights fiasco trying to get a table for tea somewhere ha ha!!
Brooklyn
and Manhattan bridge coming into view
The
archways are for the ferry terminals that can take cars across the river
The
opposite side of the River
The helicopter pad that the President uses when he
visits New York, he arrives in 4 helicopters so no-one knows which one he is
travelling in. This helicopter pad is
just right on the water!
Looking
down Wall Street
Brooklyn
bridge with a Stalin building behind,
funny thought we had left Stalin behind in Moscow!
Going
under Brooklyn Bridge
American flag, Brooklyn Bridge and One World Trade
Centre captured in one photo, well done camera!
We have turned round now heading back under the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge and the tiny pointy bit jutting up at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge is the Statue of Liberty, can’t wait!
Closer
up, great zoom :O))
Looking
up past the Manhattan Bridge
The
Empire State Building on the left and the Chrysler building the spire on the right of the
photo
The
black skyscraper is Donald Trump’s building, he has a few through the city of
New York!!
Beautiful sights :o)
Amy
patiently waiting for the Statue of Liberty, not interested in the rest just
sitting chilling doing her puzzle book ha ha!!
Now we
are heading to see the Statue of Liberty
Here she comes, woop woop!!!
The
view behind us!
Zoomed
onto our hotel
Amy is
off her seat there is only one thing that would do that and that is……..
Not
that view anyhow!
Or
Ellis Island
Oh
yeah baby Statue of Liberty!!!
Stunning
sight but you can see lines of people below her, they have tickets booked to
climb up but are still stuck in queues, not pleasant at all!
Amy’s
excited little face JJ
Now
that is a nice shot, thanks camera!
Oh
yeah Amy!
Three
jet skiers! Felt a bit imposing thought
they might have been pirates came to steal the treasure but no just 3 guys
enjoying the sun on Memorial Day weekend!
Daddy’s
little girl XXX
Admiring
the view as we head back to Pier 78 and the end of our 90 minute cruise
The
next cruise ship, the cruises are every hour.
We are not far from Pier 78
You
certainly notice the gap in the skyline with this view!
Dreamy
photo of One World Trade Centre
Back
to the Pier
Guy in
the middle of the Hudson River on a surf board,
well that is one way to get around!
We
haven’t seen these before Nutella and Go like Choc Dips, yummy Amy’s favourite
Nutella!
Our
snack Corn Dogs, we have only heard of Corn Dog’s in the movies as in the Smurfs movie!!
Back
on Times Square, seems a little more civilised today due to Memorial Day
weekend and the rain has stopped so no more fighting with the umbrella’s!
We
head back to Times Square and jump on the Hop On Hop off tour, even Yorkie has
got a pair of earphones!
Fire
brigade getting called out on a 911 call as we drove by!
New
York is great to get around, all straight lines!!
The
magazine office block that will house all the trendy magazine’s offices when it
is completed
Entrance to Central Park, that is on the list for tomorrow!
Another
Trump building!
The black building on the left is Trump!
The
Sesame Street studios, no Big Bird in sight though!
Beautiful
buildings
The
Dakota building where John Lennon was shot and where Yoko Ono lives, just
opposite this building there is a part of Central Park called Strawberry Fields
with a memorial to John Lennon called Imagine, that is also on the cards for
tomorrow’s adventure
Museum
of Dinosaurs
One of
the pieces of Schist (type of rock) that could not be drilled through, not even
to continue the subway line so one of the lines has to come onto the main road
for 1 minute of its journey!
We
have just came from Amsterdam!
Every
apartment block in New York built of more than 5 stories high has to have a
water tank
In
Harlem, one of the many churches
Not
sure what the statue is, sorry
Cathedral
St
Luke’s Hospital
There are over 400 churches in Harlem covering all religious beliefs
Loads
of famous people live in this apartment block, can’t remember who though we
were at saturation point of information at this point, sorry!!!
University
buildings
Yet another church
Choppers above!
The
subway coming up from underground because of the Schist rock!
Harlem
streets
Famous
Apollo theatre
The
Guggenheim Museum
Then
we go past a wedding couple who had 6 photographer’s photographing every move they
made but then they also had all the tourists on the bus photographing them too hee
hee!!
The
celeb’s hotel to stay in when in New York!
Carnegie
Hall
It is
1750 and it is 79 degrees F
Oh look another
Trump building, wow!
We
were walking back to the ferry when Amy spotted the top of the One World Trade
Centre has lights going in differing patterns of red, white and blue!
Beautiful
sunset over Jersey City
And
the Empire State Building is red, white and blue colours too!
Away
to jump on the ferry to ride into the sunset across the water
Manhattan
skyline in lights
The
famous Colgate clock and the time is 9pm, bed time for sure!
Manhattan
skyline last view of the night xx
