17th May - arrival and departure of Copenhagen heading towards Moscow!

17th May Copenhagen arrival and departure to Moscow

Amy says she is ready for a hike, you better be as think we are going to attempt to walk to the nearest metro station!!  The bus that we took to the terminal at the cruise ship port only operates Monday to Friday which is madness as there are 1800+ passengers, crew and the Marco Polo is docked beside us too for us all to get to the airport or train or metro is only either taxi or Royal Caribbean bus!!

That’s us off the ship, we decided to take our bags off ourselves rather than have them all packed up before 11pm last night and then have to find them again in the organised and scheduled times set by the ship.  We are off and using the free wifi but the blog website is playing up so can’t get much done aaargh frustrating I thought we would have caught up by now!!  Never mind let’s get going or else we will miss our flight and we can’t have that!!

We are excited about going to Moscow but also apprehensive!  We found out yesterday that the Russian alphabet has 33 letters instead of 26 so Coly Jolly that is not just a few that is 7 letters extra!!!!

Ok here we start off on the adventure of walking to the nearest metro station, we know it is quite a distance but think we will manage hopefully if not we will flag down a taxi!

Bye Bye Legend of the seas on the right and Marco Polo on the left

Pretty at the port near the station now!!!

Water stop and yeah it is just behind you across the road

Amy and I don’t look too impressed but we have been walking for 50 minutes to get to the metro station!

Metro train to Central station.  A guy saw Amy’s suitcase and said it was cool!

Tickets now for the airport train!!  So Royal Caribbean were charging $39 each for going to the airport on a bus, for the 3 of us that would have worked out roughly over £70!! Well with us on our budget walking, taking the metro and the train we were £14 for all 3 of us!!!  Bargain central but we were pooped after the long walk and very sweaty!!!  But chuffed with ourselves we saved some cash!!

On the train heading towards the airport

Here is Amy making an ‘M’ for Moscow and ………

 a ‘C’ for Copenhagen!!

That is us checked in with a self-service like no other we have ever seen!  The self-service consisted of scanning in your own passports, printing off your own boarding passes and luggage tags and instructions on how to put your luggage labels on with your receipt attached!  Then thankfully we didn’t get to go in the other queue as it went to self-scanner for bag drop off, weigh your bags, scan your tag, attach a heavy label tag if the machine told you to and then press a button for your bag to go off to your flight!!  Wow is this the future with cut backs and potentially not requiring check-in staff, mmmm not sure I am keen weighing and scanning by suitcases there were lots of people needing help!!!  Call me old fashioned I like to talk to people face to face!!!

Oooooh we have found a Pandora shop and have bought the Russian Doll charm just in case we can’t find the Moscow Pandora shop and we have been to St Petersburg anyway!

You silly baffoons and your silly words J

That’s us away to board the SAS flight to Moscow!  All of us excited about seeing Moscow!!

This is our plane, we got driven out to it on a bus

We were stood outside the aeroplane for ages and could see the delivery of suitcases for the aircraft but we couldn’t see our suitcases!  We started to panic thinking that our cases weren’t there and what would we do without our cases, the air steward reassured us and told us that they had been parked up for ages and the next flight would take our suitcases to us if they weren’t on!!!!!  Colin spun his head round just as I was taking the photo and I didn’t have time to take another and we were all focussed on the suitcases then!

We are delayed as someone checked into the flight and then hasn’t turned up for the flight so their bags need to come off, we are only delayed by 20 minutes!  So the air steward comes and gives Jemima her own suitcase the one you use for under 2’s, how sweet!!  Amy’s not impressed as she thinks Jemima is fine with her and doesn’t want another seatbelt on her one!!

It has been a while since Amy has slept during the day but the early start and the walk has tired her out!!  Amy had a good sleep while I wrote our journal that we are keeping everyday too for our own personal bits and pieces of memories!  We are on a small plane with 2 seats each side, Amy and I are sitting together with Colin behind me.
Amy will wake up in Moscow WOOP WOOP!!!
