New York via Reykjavik - 23th May

Arriving in Reyjavik, Iceland and New York 23rd May

There are supposed to be over 50 golf courses in Iceland and here is one of them on the coast with summer daylight hours you can play golf 24 hours a day!!!

Reykjavik - scenery looks very flat and baron when we flew over

So we had an hour before our next connection.  Just didn’t realise how many flights go out of Reykjavik to America this is a bustling airport!!  Iceland is supposed to be famous for their hot dogs as the best restaurant in Iceland is a ‘hot dog stand’ just not sure if I would be proud of that here are two scenarios – 1) are the restaurants rubbish or 2) are the hot dogs amazing???

Had to try one and it wasn’t the best Colin has tried as the skin was tough and a bit chewy! So food critic Mr Anderson says maybe they shouldn’t advertise hot dogs and then sell rubbish one’s!!!

Amy has been seeing lots of people with their babies strapped to them so she has made her own baby carrier for Jemima whilst waiting to board the flight to New York, JFK!!

It is absolutely tipping it down but here is our next aeroplane called ……

Hengill, which means ………

I thought Amy was showing me the clouds to start with and then I saw the snow!  Our flight path took us over the southern tips of Greenland, it was absolutely stunning scenery!!

This glazier has been melting and the water was crystal clear, beautiful.  Bring on our next cruise to Alaska :):)

The final shot of Greenland

Well howdy partner, here is New York :):)

Bridges on the horizon

There are no cameras or mobiles allowed inside the terminal buildings until after customs.  Don’t think they realised we normally do photographs when we arrive, ruining our plans ha ha!!  Anyway this one is to prove that we have arrived in the Big Apple with all the yellow taxis!

We jumped on the Airtrain to take us to the metro, then metro onto the PATH (which is a part of the subway that takes us under the Hudson River to our side of the water and stands for Port Authority Trans-Hudson) and then that is us at our hotel.  Our hotel has a view of the Manhattan Skyline, Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building, woop woop!!!!

Amy's little excited face on the Airtrain

Surrounded by our suitcases and bags on the subway!  Amy still looked bright in the photo but a few minutes after this was taken she was asleep on me along with all the bags and suitcases, quick catnap!

Amy's first experience of a skyscraper!!  In the rain!!!

Woop woop we are now on the PATH, success on our navigation through the Airtrains, metro and PATH we are back in business again, no wrong turns hooray!!!

On the PATH

Our train that has takes us to Exchange Place.  I take a photo of the subway and then try take a photo of Amy but a large booming voice says' No photography in the subway or the stations'  Sorry to the NYPD policeman, first bit of trouble I've got up to in New York!!!

We arrived tired out and was put into room 108 with a distant view of Statue of Liberty.  We were happy with the room until we realised that just outside our window was a walkway with people walking, running and some people were fishing off the pier.  We waited half an hour for Amy’s roll away bed to come poor Amy had already fallen asleep in our bed but can’t remember being moved onto her bed.  We are all tired from our long journey today but it was great watching the films on the small TV’s on the flights. Can’t wait to look out at the view tomorrow morning :O))
