4th May - Flam, Norway our first stop WOW

Flam, Norway

Absolutely beautiful XXX
4th May Daddy’s birthday present Kayaking on the Fjord

Colin goes up on deck while Amy is still sleeping for the first glimpse of Flam our first stop, absolutely stunning scenery with the snow-capped mountains!

Amy is up and ready now for the adventure of Kayaking on the Fjord, feeling bit nervous and excited as none of us have been kayaking before!

Off the ship and we have arrived in Flam

Beautiful sunny day again :o)

First stop is the bank for Norwegian cash!

Across the bridge to get to the Kayaking Njord Centre

Stunning and this is where our kayaking adventure begins from the hut in the distance

The Viking burial grounds

As part of the kayaking tour we take a hike up the Old King’s Path

We stop at the beautiful lagoon which in the height of summer they go for a swim but at the moment it is still freezing with the snow melting Brrrrr!

The girls with Irwin

We head further up to see the top of the waterfall, very precarious steep walk up but WOW it was worth it!  Amy wasn’t keen to go up so Irwin and I were going to stay down but then Amy turned round and said ‘this is a trip of a lifetime so I may never come back here and I will never know what Daddy has seen so I am going to try and climb up’  Irwin was cool with this and said we could turn around at anytime but the determined soul Amy is she managed the whole way up!  She wasn’t disappointed!

we could feel the spray from the waterfall, wow!

Climbing back down again!  This was worse than climbing up I’m glad she took Colin’s hand and not mine!

We’ve made it down to see the wonderful sight of our kayaks sitting by the shore of the Fjord, wow!  So Amy slid on the mud coming down and managed to get mud all up her leg and her trainer just lucky I had hold of her and I managed to stand on a rock which slid under my foot and slid down a little catching my knee on little rocks, no injuries though but soooo glad to get back onto the grassy level path!

Heading back towards the ship now, amazing views!

– the snow capped mountains which do mostly thaw out by mid August and then the snow comes again mid September, ffffffffreezing!!!!!

The only kayak left out is Amy and Irwin, come in number 8 your time is up haha!!

Looking good partners!

– the muddy shoe and leg, wouldn’t be soooo bad if we had a washing machine!

Tired out after kayaking so we headed back onto the cruise ship for lunch

After lunch Amy stayed on the ship and Colin and I went back to explore Flam a bit more and came across a Norwegian Troll

Beautiful scenery behind us!
