5th May Geiranger

Geiranger

We arrived in port at 12.30pm so we had a morning around the ship whilst watching some amazing scenery too!

The views just don’t need any narrative the photographs are enough to enjoy!

Corn pops for breakfast, yummy!  Didn’t realise we captured the very rude American lady in the background, she thought we had stolen her table so I went up and told her she was very rude and there was no need to speak to people like that!  She did apologise think I took her by surprise someone challenging her, she obviously didn’t realise not to mess with the Andersons!!

Amy enjoying her porridge!

Going really slow through the Fjord but beautiful scenery yet again!

the slow ripples we are leaving behind us

Amy lounging in the Solarium before having a dip in the pool, she’s so excited to go swimming!  There are supposed to be no children allowed in the indoor pool but due to the outdoor pool not being warm enough they opened up the indoor pool for 2 hour sessions 10-12 and 2-4pm for the children.  So we head there thinking it will be cool to have a swim whilst watching the scenery go by but to start with the indoor heated pool isn’t so warm so Colin does his usual goes all in under water and swims with his eyes open!  He comes up and his eyes are stinging so he heads out of the pool to wipe them with his towel but that isn’t good enough so I end up climbing out of the pool grabbing some water from the dispenser and rinsing his eyes with the water!  Poor Amy just wanted to have a swim but then she had a taste of the water and it was disgusting!  After a few rinses with the water Colin’s eyes were less stingy!  So Colin complained to guest services saying that it must have been the chemicals and salt water that stung his eyes so they offered him a free medical but his eyes were better by this point!  Not heading back in the pool again on the cruise ship!!  One very disappointed little super star :o((

Norway sticker on the suitcase now woop woop!

coming into port

having lunch outside with this beautiful scenery is amazing!

disembarking the ship and on the moveable walkway instead of a tender

Cruise ship looks tiny compared to some of the mountains surrounding us!

We have arrived on the dock now and have booked a panoramic bus tour it normally stops at 3 places but one of the roads is still closed with snow!!  Not sure what to expect but we are glad it is a chilled out day after our adventurous and strenuous day yesterday!  Geiranger has a population of 250!

Cruise ship from dry land

– So here is Amy with Colin boy he has aged since his birthday a couple of days ago ha ha!  Well he is 74 after all hee hee!

Here we are we have our tickets for the bus trip now so let’s go queue for the bus!  So people at the front of the queue for the bus won’t even move off the road for the bus driver to pull up the bus so he parks it a bit skewiff!  So the big queue in front of us are trying to charge on the middle door of the bus but nobody notices that the front of the bus is open too so we sneak on and get a really good seat ha ha that is what they get for not letting the bus driver into his parking space!!

we start climb up the hill with the narrow roads and 29 hairpin bends eeeek!

a farm

that is where we have just come up!

this is where we have stopped and looking down onto the white dot that is our cruise ship, WOW!

what a view, sunny but little windy today about 8-10 degrees C!

with my zoom on the camera looking at the cruise ship, we are sooooo high up!!

beautiful waterfall on the way back down

campsite eh no thanks

a church that was burnt down and rebuilt

one of the many hairpin bends we went on

The girls on the bus

Now we started climbing the other way up, up and up to Eagle’s Point!

steep inclines and sharp hairpins again!

We are at the top now, wow how tiny the cruise ship is again from a different perspective!

Nice family shot – Alison and her hubby and I have a reciprocal agreement now that they take our family pics and I take theirs!  Worked well as our photos are great!  Funnily enough Alison lives 10 minutes away from where are going to be living in Florida!

the valley entrance that we sailed through

our bus with the cruise ship below

– just not much between us and the sheer drop below especially when two other buses need past eeeeeek!  Just slightly out of my comfort zone and Amy is sitting doing her puzzle book not worrying about a thing!

Looking up to where we have just been up on the right there is a small white dot that is another tour bus sitting where we had stopped to take our family shots

And again looking up to where we have just been up on the left you can make an outline of a white house and then just above a tour bus!

Here they are again having a game of shuffleboard

the moveable gangway we walked on to get on and off the ship

breaded mushrooms on the menu tonight, Colly’s favourite!

Tortilla’s Amy’s favourite starter too!

Iputu our waiter for the past couple of nights made Amy an Origami fox that can move its mouth, wow amazing watch him make it in a few minutes with Amy’s menu!

Our view tonight at tea time was watching a ferry come into the port and unload

watched the acrobat show after tea, it wasn’t the best we have seen!

Rogie has done a towel elephant tonight, cute but also…..

– tucked Jemima and Milly in bed too other than they are on my side of the bed!
Yet another exciting day, absolutely stunning scenery.
Tomorrow is Alesund which is supposed to be very Art Deco so we will see, no trips planned just chilling around the town.
