Day 5 - Universal Studios - 1st June

Day 5 – 1st June Universal Studio’s

Well today is another big day as yet another birthday present of Amy’s from us was tickets to see Blue Man Group at Universal Studio’s today at 7pm!!  Colin and I saw Blue Man Group in Boston in 2001 and loved it so hopefully Amy will enjoy the show, it is very different to any other show we have taken her to!!  It is hard to believe that we bought the tickets in March and felt like 1st June would never come around and now it has been here and gone before we know it!!

 

 

After all the walking and late night yesterday Amy’s legs and feet are hurting so there was nothing else for it other than a dip in the pool to help rejuvenate the young sole!!!  It worked surprisingly, funny that! JJ

 

Ok here we go, which way to go, oh yeah Universal Studio’s today J

COOL!!  Amy’s two favourite things Blue Man Group and Despicable Me Ride!!!

 

Amy wanting to be a Minion on the Despicable Me Ride, 45 minute wait for the ride but it was well worth it!!!  Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2 are two of our favourite films!

The 3D glasses that need to be worn inside the ride!  It wasn't an actual ride as such it was stationary seats that moved to an animated 3D film, it was amazingly COOL!!

 

World’s largest Hard Rock Café in the world, that is where we are heading for lunch, WOW!!!

Tummy full, let’s go and ride some more!!  Normally we get a photo with the Hard Rock city name behind Amy and/or Colin but this Hard Rock has a professional photographer taking photos of each guest at the sign of Hard Rock Café Orlando and no personal photos allowed!  $20 per photo and it was rubbish so no thanks!

 

Now it was time to split up and Colin go off and get his adrenaline fix and Amy and I off to do our own mischief!  First things first though Amy has to high five Shrek and give Princess Fiona a cuddle!!

And Princess Fiona put her ogre ears at the top of her P for Princess, cool!!

 

Transformers are out, don’t know which one this is but he was cool!  Amy didn’t want to meet the Transformer bit too boyish for her!  Colin will be going in the Transformers 3D ride later or he might have already been, who knows what mischief he is up to!!

 

This is one of the rides Colin is going on the ride goes up vertically and then whoosh down!!  Called Hollywood Rip Ride Rock It!  You could choose which music you had playing in your ears when you went on the ride, Colin chose ZZ Top Give me all your loving!!

 

 

Amy and I are having a ball meeting all the characters that are hanging out around the park!  Her face is so genuinely pleased to see them and she feels so special when they give her a kiss, cuddle or high five.  Despicable Me have all been out dancing in the street, Minions, Vector and Gru and then you can meet Gru! WOW!!

 

 

And then we meet a Minion who has been dancing in the street!!  Vector ran away before we could get a photo but he was right next to Amy too!  They have 20 minute slots in this park too so his time was up and he darted off the street to undress and cool off I’m sure!

 

 

No real Woody Woodpecker but cut out character will do!

Next we went to Curious George Foam Factory

 

 

Holy smoke!!  Watch out the camera and I are in the firing line!!!

 

Now I’m not in the firing line but I did deliver more balls for Amy to fire back at me or any other unsuspecting souls who are walking by downstairs!

   WATCH OUT BELOW!!!

 

Now look at that mischievous look! What is next or should I say who is next!

 

Now Amy and a boy are firing at each other and having a giggle!

 

No wet gear on today so no water play today!

 

 

Here we go again on the Woody Woodpecker Coaster!  No queue so jump straight on, yippee!

 

And then we turn the corner and wow here are Edith, Agnes and Margo!!  The girls from Despicable Me

 

The happiest girl around!!

 

We walk round a bit further and then see Bart and Homer Simpson!!  Amy’s autograph book is getting full!

 

Amy won a Minion after using the hammer to see how strong she was and ding ding winner!!

Amy cooling off in the cool zone where they have mist spraying onto you, perfect in the heat of the day!

 

Looking over to the area Colin is in!!  He has done Twister Ride it out which was a tornado simulated ride, Revenge of the Mummy an indoor dark roller coaster and Transformers 3D ride which was a simulated 3D ride

Amy and I went to see Animal Actors which was all the famous animals from the movies apart from we didn't recognise the movies the animals were from!

 

And then we met up with Col to watch the Parade at 5pm!

 

Here come the Despicable Me characters, woop woop!

 

Amy thrilled that Agnes was at our side of the float and gave Amy a wave!

 

Here is Vector that scooted away from us earlier but we have a photo now and the staff were really good and got his stamp to put in Amy’s autograph book.  The Despicable Me characters didn’t sign their autographs with a pen they had stamps but we still got them all XXX

Then Dora, Boots and Diego and as the end of the parade came round so did the rain and heavy rain at that!!

So we ran to the Simpsons ride whilst it was still raining and took Col on this time as it was a very good simulated ride, the best bit for me was when Lisa the baby thinks that we are her dummy and the car that we are in is moving back and forth as if she is sucking our car!!  Very clever and cool ride!  And we also went back onto the Despicable Me ride too as it was all our favourite!

 

 

And now is the time we have all been waiting for it is the BLUE MAN GROUP!!!!!  I have shown Amy you tube clips of Blue Man Group and she loved it so hopefully she isn’t disappointed!  Amy is sooooo excited my arm is getting squeezed off!!

WOW the show did not disappoint Amy or Colin and I it was amazing!!  Amy loved the bit where you are up dancing and then they release massive balls on top of the audience that change colour with the music and then the streamers start!!  It was AMAZING and so funny!!  Amy was in hysterics nearly the whole way through and my face was starting to hurt from laughing so much!!  They have a little clip on this website - https://www.universalorlando.com/Shows/Blue-Man-Group.aspx

We came out of Blue Man Group and thought we would get one last ride in but the queue at Despicable Me was 35 minutes so we were standing debating what to do when someone asked us if we would like to use their fastpass cards as they were leaving the park, oh yeah so we bypassed the queue at Despicable Me and went on it again!

And then Colin went back onto the Rip Ride Rock It vertical roller coaster as it was dark and he thought it might be even better in the dark!  He listened to Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf!!  As Colin was on that Amy and I was watching the fireworks show

 

The camera didn’t know what to do with the bright lights and darkness so it didn’t do a flash and this is the result a dark photo!

 

Heading back to the car park, we are parked in ET section today!

And that was the end of a very long but absolutely brilliant day with Blue Man Group and some great rides!  Off to bed and a chill out day planned tomorrow to recover from all the excitement!
