Day 1 Radiance of the Seas
and
Leaving Vancouver
Friday 13th June,
fingers crossed nothing happens!!
Here we are getting packed up again ready to board the Radiance of the Seas
Ok my helpers have
found something else to keep them entertained you can see on the TV the US
Open!!
The
view from North Vancouver across the water and there is our cruise ship waiting
for us!! We are looking forward to
having a chilled out week and Amy is looking forward to the Adventure Ocean
Kid’s club!
Here
we are leaving North Vancouver
Amy
tells us that Yorkie is getting very excited about her first cruise
Seabus
is coming, cool we are nearly there!!!
Exciting!!!
Our
Seabus is here
Looking
over the water and yes our cruise ship is still there getting closer and closer
now!!
That
is a big piece of driftwood thankfully we didn’t hit it on the way to the
cruise ship
Front
on view of our Radiance of the Seas
Look
at the size of the cruise ship compared to the buildings
Off
the seabus and round the corner and we are at the Cruise Ship Terminal
Here
we go, let’s go and get checked in!
Drop
off our suitcases
Woop
woop, we have checked in!! Yorkie was a
bit of a celebrity in the queues and everyone was surprised that Yorkie had her
own Passport or should I say Pawsport as in true Build-a-bear style!!
On
the gangway, let’s go
All
the supplies going on! Amy is hoping
that they have plenty of cookies coming on board hee hee!!
Oh
look they have a friends of Bill W on this cruise too!! Luckily our cruise buddies told us that this
is the Alcoholics Anonymous group as Colin and I were wondering who Bill W was
on our last cruise, how embarrassing!!
It
is 1pm and the cabins are now open, Amy on a mission to see our cabin
Found
it JJ
Come
in then hee hee!! We have a window on
this cruise but a smaller room to compensate for the window!!
Sorting
out the hand luggage, our suitcases will arrive hopefully sometime before 9.30pm!
Good
sized window!
Amy has spied that
the Cruise Director who is in charge of the on the ship entertainment is called
‘Amy’
And
they are spelt the same way!!
The Centrum
The Lobby Bar in the Centrum
Fancy
napkin folding at the entrance of the Cascade’s restaurant
Cascade’s
restaurant
Just
to keep us orientated!!
Looking
down into the Centrum area
Windjammer
Buffet Restaurant
Think
I am sorted with that Gluten Free options, thumbs up!!
Thought
I would try the Gluten Free pizza just a bit more cooking would have saved it
being so soggy but it was lovely getting it cooked specially for me or I thought it was just for me but a much older lady came and ordered a pizza but didn't realise that it would take 20 minutes to cook. Her daughter came over and started creating so I said why don't you just share my pizza, have half and then you know for future to order it in advance. The daughter was still huffing saying that there shouldn't be a problem with gluten free things but I explained it comes from the kitchen on a lower deck and then cooked in the windjammer. The old lady thought I was great though sharing my pizza so she walked away quite happy with her plate of pizza and her walking stick!!
Happy
face as Choc Chip Cookie in hand!!!
Amy
is all signed up now for kid’s club open tomorrow but no lanyard L lucky we have a spare one in our bag from
Legend of the Seas!!
Wow
Adventure Ocean is massive, we think
there will be loads of kids on board this cruise
Colin
checking out Adventure Ocean
Ok
so Amy has seen her favourite games from Legend of the Seas on the board so she
is happy!
Outdoor
pool area with Pool Bar on Deck 11 and Sky Bar on Deck 12
There
is our little Seabus still going back and forth to North Vancouver
Amy having a view
over to North Vancouver it was a bit windy so her skirt went up like Marilyn
Monroe ha ha!!
View
over Stanley Park
Kid’s
pool with golf above on Deck 13
Slide
for the kid’s pool Deck 12 and rock climbing wall on Deck 13
Golf!!
Basketball
and games are on Deck 12
Rock
climbing wall, Amy doesn’t fancy doing it on this ship as she has already done
it on Legend of the Seas!
Container
ship coming into port
Solarium
pool, we all have goggles this time so at least we can go in the pool rather
than having the fiasco that happened on Legend of the Seas with Colin’s eyes!
Loungers around the Solarium pool
Col
checking out the selection of food at the Park Café, salads and wraps mostly
Aurora
theatre which is on two decks, wow it is massive!
The
Quill and Compass pub on Deck 6 that will be showing the World Cup!
Casino Royale, not
open yet hence why we can wander through with Amy as it is a restricted area
for aged 18 years +
Looking
down on the Centrum area, certainly not as big as the Legend of the Seas
Oooooh look they have
a Champagne Bar but boy that barman looks familiar, maybe Colin is trying to
get a job as a Barman to earn his keep over the next week, payment in beer
would be good eh!!
Amy
is struggling to see over the counter top at the champagne bar that shows you
are defo not old enough Miss A, hee hee!!
But
it is my favourite tipple so licking lips time!!!
Still
more to see the Schooner Bar, Colony Club where they can hold some smaller
shows and Giovanni’s and Chops Grille are alternative restaurants that require
some further $ to eat there
Schooner
Bar
Oh look what is on TV
here Colin has a choice now of World Cup and US Open!!
Cool pool tables that
have got a levelling system in them so if the seas are rough your balls will
stay where they are, clever!
Colony
Bar, G’day mate
Colony
stage area
The Chef’s Table
restaurant where you eat with one of the Chef’s and you are served different
wine depending on the course and cut of meat, lucky I don’t like wine and also
a large sum of $ required for the pleasure
Colin
checking out the wines that they offer at the Captain’s table
Entrance to Schooner
Bar, we’ve explored there so we are heading back out now to explore the ship
more
That
is us set sail now. Cruising past Stanley Park and the skyline in the
background
Here
we go on our next cruise to see Alaska!!
Under
the Lion’s Gate bridge, duck everybody!!!
Deck area is really busy for departing!
Smile and wave boys,
smile and wave ha ha!! Cyclists stopping
to wave us under the bridge they have stopped on, it looks a bit tight to go
under!!! The ship’s horn is going off to
say we are going under, boy it is loud!!
Oh
boy are we going to make it!!!
Of
course we are but it does look tight to us, eeeeek!!
This
is a busy part of the port with all the ships hanging around
Lion’s
Gate Bridge behind us now, cool!
Someone took a
picture of us and completely missed the bridge out!!
There
is Second Beach which we went by a couple of days ago with the logs on the
beach
Amy
showing Yorkie the cruise ship and the view!
Seaplane
above us!
Looking through the glass surroundings with the reflection of the sky and the top of the ship
Looking
back at the whole view of the Lion’s gate bridge
Don’t
look now but I think there is a cruise ship following us!
Ahead
of us
Lovely
scenery
Looking
down at the sea
Turn
down service with Amy’s bed down
View
through one of the windows at the lift area
For
tea tonight we went to Windjammer and look what there is Chinese Soup Station,
let’s give that a try!!
Ok
then I will!
Place my ingredients
in the pan and boil them!
Amy
is on the camera taking a picture of my soup, it wasn’t that good missing some
flavour
View
at tea
Amy
is in her element she has a chocolate ice cream cone!
We
went to the Welcome Show where Amy introduced herself, our Amy is sitting on
the edge of her seat!
The
show was a comedian who was funny with a lot of the jokes based around cruising
View out of our
porthole, lovely having some natural daylight coming into our room as we only
had an interior cabin on Legend of the Seas.
It is bedtime now so
close the curtains and night night everyone XXX
Day cruising to look forward to tomorrow!
