Day 1 - 2nd July - Honolulu

Day 1 - Honolulu

2nd July

This week is a week of chilling, relaxing and not doing very much so that is a warning to not expect much on the blog!  Amy woke at 6am and then proceeded to wake Colin up by shaking his arm saying in her little excited voice ‘Waikiki Beach, Waikiki Beach!!!’  Ok we are awake now!!

Amy is happy as we found some Panda biscuits that she used to get in the Isle of Man with chocolate in the middle from the Mini Market downstairs

Watching the surfers from our balcony and bedroom window

Amy is already to go out for walk

Looking up from floor 6 to our apartment as we are away to check out the pool area

Colin practising his golf with imaginary clubs!

And the pool looks so inviting, but let’s go out and explore and we might have time for a dip when we get back!

Amy’s area, she’s gone for a slide, but it is a bit hot for her booty!

That is one MEAN looking fire truck!

We have made the couple of minute walk to Waikiki Beach, WOW look at the amount of surfers out there!

They look like seals just their heads bobbing in and out of the sea and then springing into action and catching a wave, got to be patient though!!

Lifeguards on duty no Hoff around here!!

Pacific Ocean paddle!!  The sea is a nice temperature!

Wow this beach stretches far along the bay too!

Happy faces to be on the famous Waikiki Beach!!

Ok so if people have been keeping up with the blog they might remember my disaster of a pink dress day at the water rides in Florida.  Well here is my pink dress so before I wore it I checked the sky for rain clouds, checked the weather forecast no rain forecast and finally I was extra cautious in the sea just in case the water hit my dress.  Surely all the dye will be out of it now??  But do you know what when I hand washed it later on it still had dye coming out of it! and it has been through the washing machine twice too!!

Sandy feet!!  The sand has quite a bit of broken coral bits on it so can be a bit ouchy when walking!

Oooooh look it is Diamond Head!  That reminds us of the Visual Travel Quiz we played on the Scandinavian Cruise with Alison, Bill, Brian and Erin.  The questions were pictures of famous sights and landmarks around the world.  We got the question wrong as we put Diamond Head but they were looking for Waikiki Beach and look guys we are here!!!

Surfer dude!!  Saying Aloha!!  The statue is big as you can see compared to Amy!

ALOHA from Honolulu!!!

Police, nee nah nee nah!!  The sirens here are extremely loud!!  This fella is just parked up though no excitement around!

And then we get stopped by a Waikiki Ambassador who wanted to take some photo’s for us so here we are…

The symbol for Aloha which Colin struggled with as he so wanted to put his finger out to do ‘Rock on’ sign!!

Look at this mean looking undercover cop car!!

Guess where we are heading?!?!?!?

We are acting stupid now, Yorkie meet Yorkie ha ha!!

This building looks like the top of a cruise ship unfortunately as we are coming near the end of our Big Holiday Adventure no more cruises for us, for a while anyhow L

Look what we spied Alison and Bill!

Wow we thought this looked a cool lane down towards the beach and then we realised it is storage for people’s surf boards!  Cool!

A shopping mall, pretty nice setting!!

Unusual shaped buildings along the front looking onto Waikiki Beach

Loads of stretched Limousines around

Look at where we are heading for lunch!!

Cooooooooool jeep you guys!!!

We walked inside and then we were met with guitar’s!!!  The guitar display started on the wall on the stairs leading up to the restaurant ceiling and carried on across the ceiling to the balcony, wow amazing set of guitar’s!!

We are all pointing out our favourite guitar up on the ceiling, Amy and I’s is the …….

heart guitar!!!

Mmmmmm a Berry Smoothie, it was absolutely delicious and only 25cents more than a glass of pop, bargain!!!!

Amy thrilled with her water!!

Colin happy with the local Longboard Beer!!

Amy and I have the same in Hard Rock Café each place we go as the menu is the same other than a few local dishes, Amy had a grilled chicken sandwich and I had Chop Salad.  Hawaii is the first place we have seen with a whole separate local menu.  Colin opted for the Hawaiian burger with the grilled Pineapple and the Asian spiced chips, Yum Yum!!!

Yorkie with her Hard Rock Café guitar tucked in her Florida shorts!

Amy wanted to choose photograph’s to go in the blog so here are her choices!!!

Riding the wave on the Hard Rock Café badges

We are walking back along the front now and notice on the paving stones at pedestrian crossings there are meanings of words

Look what we found along the street!!  Pandora bracelet with another addition of a flip flop it is cute!!

Amy has her Del Sol necklace and t-shirt on so the flower on Amy’s necklace is white indoors or not in the sun and pink in the sun, Amy’s t-shirt is all white indoors and has pink flowers and blue heart in the sun, cool!!!

So it is coming close to 4th July celebrations and I think I have just found my outfit for the celebrations!  Eh I think not ha ha!!

We go past a lady hiring out these cool meep meep cars but they only hold 2 people so the lady says girls in a car and Dad on a moped, no thanks we were only looking at them to see how cute they are!

This area is bombarded by ABC Stores every corner you turn there is another ABC store, walk 2 minutes down the road there is another ABC Store they are everywhere and selling all the same things too!!  They have souvenir bits and pieces, some clothes and food items!

Here is where we are after though as we need to get some supplies in for breakfast, lunch and tea!

We made it back from the supermarket but Amy was melting on the way back so here she is standing in front of the air conditioning trying to cool off!!  Don’t worry Amy you just stand there and Mummy and Daddy will unpack the shopping after carrying the shopping and Yorkie back from the shops!!  Life just isn’t easy being 8!!
So tea comprised of Cajun Chicken, salad, rice and pasta, delicious even if I do say so myself and just the right amount of spiciness for Amy!
It is off to bed as we have some pool and beach time to squeeze into our agenda tomorrow!!!
