Welcome to our other NEW (well new to us!) addition to the family

My Meep Meep but I love it, my city run around!!

2005 Hyundai 1.6 Getz

Family discussion to decide on the name and drum roll please .............
Gertie Getz Heidi Anderson (Amy added in the Heidi and the Anderson!!)

Only Yorkie was allowed to come and collect Amy from school in the new car!!

The butterfly will be coming off the rear window!!

Cool car with the tinted windows, good for safety and keeping the car cool in the summer.
Amy loves climbing in the back of the car and she has a special peddle to press to make the seat spring forward to let her out!!!  She even has a hook on the back of the passenger seat to hang a jacket on so she took off her coat tonight and hung it up, funny!!

This car will fit into the tiniest of parking spaces so hopefully I will get some of the free spaces in the city for work!!!
MEEP MEEP!!!
Next task is furniture hunting!  We measured up the house today so we can figure out what can fit where.  We are certainly getting through our list of jobs, exciting!!!

School days

School!!

Amy had her first dress down day for National Tree Day on Friday - wear something green!!

Amy is still absolutely loving school, the second day at school she stopped us at the gates and said 'here is fine Mummy and Daddy' so she kissed us bye and then strutted confidently into the school grounds by herself, amazing for her second day at school, so proud of our little pumpkin XxX

Yesterday Colin and I went to school for a teaching session on Brain Function and Learning.  The school and the community network group do sessions on various topics throughout the year and have three sessions to cater for parents who work and don't work.  The sessions yesterday were 9-10.30am, 1.30-3pm, 7-8pm.  We went to the 9am session, it was really good and there were 3 Year 7's and 2 Year 4's that were our teachers for part of the session too!!  Gosh we learnt lots of things about the brain!!  We had to do some group work and then make the cross section of the brain from play doh!!  It was great fun, Amy's relief teacher was taking the session so she went into Amy's class after the session and told Amy that we had done a good play doh brain, Amy thought that was hilarious!!  Amy has done the same session so she was comparing our worksheets to what she had put down on her answers!!!  These were our efforts!!

Amy thought we had done a COOL job!!  And now she has volunteered us for making play doh for their session on Brain Functioning on Thursday!
Amy's geography lessons this term are on natural disasters so Amy has been telling her teacher that Colin and I slept through a hurricane when we lived in Bermuda (this happened when my mum, dad, sister, brother-in-law and nephews were visiting too) and also about the earthquake in Tokyo (which I felt but Colin and Amy slept through) so it looks like we are going in to speak with the class on these topics!!  It will be a great way of meeting the class, children and also the helper parents too.  On a Thursday morning they have parent helpers in so we can mingle with a few of the parent helpers and get to know some more people.  We met a few parents after school today too, good meeting people and one of the boys seemingly came home from school on Thursday last week excited about a 'new girl' in class, sweet!

New car .....

Welcome to our new addition to the family Bruce Bogtrotter!!

We had a family discussion and the vote for the name of the car went to Bruce Bogtrotter (Bruce for short), a character from Matilda!

Proud as punch with his NEW CAR!!  Our first material purchase in Adelaide!!
2010 Mitsubishi Lancer

We parked the car outside the new house that we are renting in a couple of weeks and went and picked up Amy from school!

All her teddies came in the car to meet Amy from school too!

The family selfie in the NEW CAR to the Anderson family!

The guy we bought the car from Chris gave us a couple of lucky dips for Amy from the car showroom.  Amy got some sweeties and sticky gel hands that stick to the windows (which were not allowed in the new car, obviously!!)
Colin loves his new car and we are now on the lookout for a little meep meep for me to get to work in.  We have looked at public transport and the timings will not fit into collecting Amy from school so car hunting we go again!!

I GOT IT........

Well all the hard work that I did in Hawaii has paid off as I heard today that I have got the job!!!
My references have come through and now just waiting for my Australian police check which won't come up with anything considering we have only been here for 12 days!!
Woop woop, sparkling wine tonight to celebrate!!!!!!

Well done ME!!!

Big day today :o) Amy's first day at school, my interview and our 15th wedding anniversary - 24th July

Amy with her 'winter' uniform and her new school bag

Amy's school West Lakes Shore, so at the uniform shop the other day the lady gave Amy new socks and hair bobbles for being so lovely and to make Amy feel special on her first day at school!!  Amy has been so lucky with free gifts!

New packed lunch box

Fingers crossed for Amy and I today!!

The girl's ready for our big day ahead!!

Here we go, Amy is as cool as a cucumber, no nerves just excited!!  Us on the other hand are a bag of nerves for her!!

Door to the classroom, dropped school bag off outside and lunch bag to go inside

Year 3's are in Pelican building, Amy's class is Pelican 4!

And here is the gorgeous school girl at the end of the day!!  Amy had in her own words when she walked out of school 'a really good day' and is super keen to go back tomorrow.  Amy has done her first lesson in Japanese, computing and research today and has loved every minute!!  The school's Deputy Principal came to meet Amy at the end of the day to find out how she got on, what a lovely touch considering there around 600 pupils in the school!!

All lunch eaten, good job Amy xxx

My turn at 12 for my interview.  Nervous as can be!!!  It went well and I will hear hopefully next week if I have been successful! Fingers crossed!!

Colin dropped me off at my interview and then went and got forms for our Australian driving licence.  We went back after my interview and completed all the bits and pieces so here are our temporary licences, woop woop now we can buy a car!!

And today is also Colin and I's 15th wedding anniversary!!  Where has time gone 15 years, but with everyone having so many nerves around today we are going to postpone the celebration and celebrate Amy's first half week at school, all our achievements this week and our anniversary on Saturday - might treat ourselves to a Chinese meal and another Nutella ice cream!!

We've had some adventures over the past 15 years Mr Anderson, let them continue!!
BRING IT ON!!!

House Rental

Over the past few days we have been busy looking at websites to see what rental properties there are on offer at the moment around the school catchment area.  Here they do 15 minute viewing slots for you to go along and have a look round the property along with everyone else who is interested in the property, then you need to submit an application which is sent to the owner and then they decide who rents their property!!  Wow!!

So there was an open viewing on Saturday that we went to see but oh boy the place was absolutely disgusting so much so that Colin felt sick when he came out and Amy was none too impressed!!!
Ok so let's try the other properties we have listed down from the website, so we did drive by's and that scored some off the list even without going in!!
We had whittled our list down to 4 properties so Monday morning I called the agents and arranged viewings on them all!
We went to see one property on Monday and we all fell in love with it!  So it was a mad dash to complete the application form and submit it!!  We had some negotiations to do between the agent, ourselves and the owner but it all come through yesterday and we have been accepted to rent the house for a 12 month lease!!  We went to see the other houses we had arranged to see but nothing compared to the house that we REALLY wanted and got thankfully!!

Our house that we are renting from 11th August!!!  Exciting!!!

And this will be our view over the oval towards Amy's school!!!
Absolutely perfect location!!!
Can't wait, all sooooo excited!!

Haircuts!!!

Okay so we have not had our haircuts since the Isle of Man so we are well over due to have much more than a 'wee' trim!!  So Colin was first to have an important appointment so he went for his haircut the day after we had arrived!!

The before mug shot!!

Before and ................

After mug shot!!!

Now that is much more presentable Mr Anderson!!

Okay so now it is Amy and I's turn to have important dates coming up so we went for our haircut's today!!  The before ...

And isn't it typical I thought my hair was sitting and looking quite nice today but it had to be chopped!!

Amy's hair has been getting progressively more and more tuggy so long overdue of a cut and a very important day tomorrow so trim please!!

Look how long Amy's hair has grown!!

Colin went for a walk and Amy and I went to a salon that will be within walking distance from where we will be living!!!

Our new hairdresser was absolutely brilliant and I think she has done a very good job

Love my new hairstyle and for the gorgeous girl next .......

Amy had to have her hair straightened before cutting and then because her hair is so long now she had to have her hair cut standing up!!!

So pretty, ready for tomorrow

Our gorgeous girl xxx
