WORK!!!

Well as you can figure out from the break in the blogs I have started work and have been absolutely goosed when I have come home!!!!

My work has been a great variety so far and I have enjoyed being back in the 'nursing' world again.  I am working on Casual basis so I put my availability down and they let me know whether I am required or not to work all over the hospital so variety will be the spice of life for me that is for sure, looking forward to it!!

Colin has got a job and he starts on Monday in the city.  He is looking forward to getting back into the work scene too but is understandably nervous!!!

House is all sorted now hurrah!!!

House is all sorted now hurrah!!!

Phew the boxes are all unpacked and sorted and the house has now become a home full of love!!
It is lovely having our own bits and pieces around us again.

Our bedroom

Amy's bedroom with Granny's purple pillow that Granny made Amy on one of her visits to the Isle of Man and then ...........

her Lucky Sixpence and charms from Grandma and Grandpa next to her bed too which travelled round the world with us!!  If you look just to the right of the purple cushion on Amy's bed (the photo above) you can see a little line coming down from the window frame bottom left and that is where the charms are hanging.  Amy jingles them just before going to sleep every night so Grandma, Grandpa and Granny are close by her at night and are always in her thoughts.
Love you lots Grandma, Grandpa and Granny xXx

Amy's wardrobe expertly put together by Mr A and her toys!

The guest bedroom or should I say playroom cleared and ready for Amy's first playdate tomorrow!!

The other side of the guest bedroom/playroom with the same sofa bed that
Uncle Brian and Auntie Nicola have!

Our dining room table, the chairs are supposed to be delivered by the end of the month!!

Our living room and I must apologise for the horrible rugs but they come with the house, we can't lift them as we have nowhere to store them so we will need to make do and in actual fact they are becoming less obvious with the furniture in

Awh look what we unearthed as in another moment of 'Oh look I forgot about this!'  Amy was studying stones and rocks at school and had to take a rock in so we went onto the river bank and got this perfect stone.  She took into school and they painted it as in what the Celts did the topic they were studying and then Amy wrote on the back of it when she took it home....

'I brought this to Australia because it is from the riverbank in Sulby!!'  An awh moment in the house when we read the back and none of us remembered Amy painting the stone at school or writing on the back so it was a lovely surprise today :o)

And as a special treat for being a long weekend we had a movie night with treaters and all snuggled up on the sofa, we watched Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (great film)
Lovely, special, quality family time xXx

Cycling

Cycling

Colin and I have bought bicycles so here we are off on our first family cycle last night :o)

And the customary funny pose!!  We cycled round to the play park and back home again.  Far enough for our first attempt and have to say that it would have been my first time on a bicycle since I was at High School so breaking us in gently!!!  Thankfully I didn't fall off :o)

Today is day off school, long weekend for Amy Friday and Monday so Amy is now helping us do the chores that we normally do on a Friday and that is go to the People's Market for cheap fruit and veg!!  So Amy and I decided to cycle as it is 1kilometre away.  Apples, bananas and carrots bought for the week and packed away in our Isle of Man TT rucksack and off we cycled home again thankfully the rucksack didn't make us go speeding at 150mph ha ha they are push bicycles not motorcycles!!  Amy has certainly earned her pocket money this week for cycling so well and helping with the weekly chores!!  Amy even asked if we could wait until Sunday to get fruit and veg from the People's Market so she could cycle there every week!!  Weather was lovely today but it did start off cold this morning just look at Amy below trying to keep cosy when she got up with her dressing gown and heat pack!!  Cutie pie xxx

Boxes :o)

Boxes :o)

So we have been challenged with us trying to squeeze a 4 bedroomed house into a 3 bedroomed house but then we have had even further restrictions on us as we have no attic or any storage in either Amy's or the spare bedroom.  So when our first furniture delivery came I did some improvisation with the box our coffee table came in!!

I used the soft cloth that it was covered in to disguise the box and hey presto I had a bit of a display unit so we took it a bit further!!

When I was talking to my mum I was explaining what I had done with the box and that I was planning getting a drape or something to make it more of a permanent feature but then she came up with a brain wave to use the box as storage and hide the things that we don't need access to, brilliant idea Mum well done!!  So here we are filling the coffee table and the TV unit empty box of bits and pieces and also putting the flattened boxes from the shipment in too as we will be moving out of this house with us renting.

The TV unit box that we are filling!

My make shift drape is off in preparation for the filling of the box!!!

Here we go and then ......................

I cut up a quilt cover and I think it looks pretty good if I don't say so myself and the other box............

Oh yeah, perfect display unit tables for us to display our photos and special ornaments!!

Open night at Amy's school

Open night at Amy's school

Here we go heading off to school for open night, exciting!!

Sausage Sizzle first though, a sausage cooked on a barby in a piece of bread rather than a roll or bap but Colin and Amy enjoyed it all the same

Amy is part of a 'Teach on' team where they work with younger year groups and do various activities.  This was artwork that they did with Year 1's on the Book Week 'Windy Farm' book, funnily enough Amy was working with an Angela!!!

Computer class

Wet room for a whole variety of activities

Amy's tray, sweet xxx

Amy standing next to her seat in class.  They swap seats every 2 weeks to change learning partners

The brain display up on the wall

Amy's brain poster.  Amy's teacher said that 'Amy is a joy to have in her class' what a lovely thing to say.  She also told us that Amy is telling the class about Isle of Man, Viking and Celts, good to share knowledge, well done Amy, super proud Mummy and Daddy xXx

Amy mastered the rectangular prism with pipe cleaners!

The school did a question trail around the whole school so we completed that as well as seeing round the whole school and we also watched Amy's friend perform in the choir.  This photo was taken from the screen in the classroom that they learn Japanese in, they are learning 'Let it go' from Frozen in Japanese, how cool is that!!  They have different teachers for different lessons, art, music, Japanese, PE and can't remember the other different teachers Amy has!  Just shows how much she has absorbed since starting school, so proud of Amy she has settled in soooo well.

Tribute to Dad and Grandad :o)

Tribute to Dad and Grandad XXX

Well it has been 3 years yesterday since Dad and a very special Grandad died suddenly and not a day goes by without us thinking of him.  The angels were obviously needing another gardener and chose Dad because they knew that he loved gardening so much.
You are forever in our hearts Dad and Grandad
XXXXXX

Dad was forever pottering around the garden, always getting up to some sort of mischief and whistling wherever he was!!

Special times but I do wish my Dad had told me what a state my hair was though!!
Ha ha always his baby girl and never too old to sit on his knee!!

And then a little Amy came along and Grandad managed to get the first smile from Amy xxx

Here are the pair of them getting up to mischief in the garden, they were thick as thieves for the few days Granny and Grandad came over to the Isle of Man to see us!!

And who would have thought that when we met up with Dad that this would be the last time that we saw him alive and the last time we all got a cuddle from him.  This was hilarious and what a great memory to have of Dad and Grandad having fun on the see-saw, the slide which only Dad managed to slide down as he had the slidey trousers, Amy was gutted she kept on getting stuck on the slide, funny!!  Makes us laugh each time we think of it!!

And Grandad just couldn't resist having a go on the rocking horse.
Love and miss you lots Dad and Grandad xXxXxXxXx

Spring is on it's way so the weather is getting warmer and here is Amy's warmer weather school uniform - dress and shorts!  Looking good Miss A xXx
Amy is still loving school and has lots more friends now, she has settled in really well.
We have open night at school tonight so that will be good to see what she has been up to in class and see round the rest of the school as they put on a treasure trail that takes you round all of the classrooms!

Still a bit nippy in the mornings so jacket on in the morning and then it is stuffed in the bag when she gets to school!!
